Y-3 began in 2003 and has outlasted almost every other designer and sportswear partnership. The formula has stayed consistent. adidas supplies the technical base and the archive, Yohji Yamamoto supplies the proportion, the drape and the near-total commitment to black.

Footwear leads the range. The silhouettes borrow from adidas performance running and terrace models but are rebuilt with different materials, different proportions and Yamamoto's approach to layering and asymmetry.

Apparel covers outerwear, knits, tees and technical pieces, generally cut long and loose in line with the main Yohji Yamamoto line.

Y-3 elevates the adidas offering considerably and has limited distribution in Australia.

Generally yes. The apparel follows the main Yohji Yamamoto line and is cut long and loose. Most people take their usual size or one down depending on how much volume they want.

Is Y-3 the same as Yohji Yamamoto?

No. Y-3 is the adidas partnership. The main Yohji Yamamoto line is a separate, more expensive collection with no sportswear component.
