A new 990 doesn't happen often, which is why each one gets treated as an event.
The 1982 original started with a simple brief—build the best running shoe going—and launched at $100 in grey while everything else was loud. The lore of "expensive grey shoes" started there.
The v7's brief was to be undeniably a 990 and unmistakably new. The design team's mantra was "memories from the future": from across the street it's a 990, and the closer you get, the more new details turn up.
Underfoot, a softer FuelCell than the v6 works with ENCAP, the CR device and a new TPU shank at the midfoot, keeping the cushioning-to-support balance the 990 is known for. Up top it's still pigskin suede and mesh, with tumbled leather accents and synthetic suede overlays for structure. Made in the USA, naturally.
The 990v7 lands at UP THERE on Friday 6th of November. Going by how the 990s usually move, we wouldn't wait around.
