Zane Li founded LII in New York after graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2023, showing his first collection at New York Fashion Week the following year. Born and raised in Chongqing, he moved to New York at 18 to study fashion.
Li's approach starts with shape. Instead of beginning from a conventional garment pattern, he works from simple forms, squares, boxes and strips, then manipulates them around the body. Familiar pieces are pulled apart and reassembled through unexpected openings, layers and proportions, so the silhouette reads differently as it moves.
Lii sits alongside '90s minimalism in the label's design language, with
technical fabrics and everyday wardrobe pieces reworked through that same interest in construction. Calvin Klein and Helmut Lang have both been cited as influences, particularly in how they brought casualness into more considered dressing.
