Knees are the first thing to go on a good pair of work trousers, so patching them is a time-honoured fix. BEAMS Plus just does it on purpose, straight off the cutting table. The MIL Trousers take the proportions of vintage military issue in moleskin and cover the front in tonal patchwork.
Moleskin is a dense, napped cotton with a soft, almost suede-like face, and here it’s cut into panels and pieced together in an irregular pattern. That gives the front subtle shifts in texture and shade across the knees and thighs, rather than one flat block of fabric. The cut stays wide and straight in the leg, the way the military originals were built. Fastening is a zip fly with a button, with slanted hand pockets and welt pockets at the front waist.
