For those unfamiliar with our game, we've built a longstanding relationship with ASICS, spanning 15 years of partnership and multiple projects. On our fifth round, we revisit themes to set the scene for a GEL-Kayano 20 inspired by Australia’s connection to the iconic model.
Why the 20? Well, in Australia GEL-KAYANO™ 20 rules supreme with original colours commanding high prices on the secondary market. In the land down under, KAYANO 20 is king—the brighter, the better.
The UP THERE designed GEL-KAYANO™ 20 features a two-tone archival mesh borrowed from the GEL-KINSEI 4, and fades from fluorescent “Safety Yellow” to white—a technically difficult effect which spans from the upper to dual-layered midsole. This gradient-like effect actually came by chance through an unexpected version of a sample which turned out to be better than what we initially planned for.
Underfoot, an ice rubber outsole and TRUSSTIC™ shank are accompanied by our signature green Guidance Line that made an appearance on our 12.1's from last year, while reflective hits ensure this GEL-KAYANO™ 20 is just as bright at night.
