Established in 2019, Rier was founded by Austrian designer Andreas Steiner. Although a relatively young brand, Rier has quickly earned a reputation for making fantastically luxurious garments inspired by alpine heritage.

Andreas was raised in a mountain village, situated within the Italian Alpine region of South Tyrol. Much of Steiner's work draws inspiration from this time, living in small cottages, hiking and being at-one with the astoundingly scenic area.

After leaving the Dolomites at age 19, Steiner studied in Milan and London, leading him to work at storied houses Prada, Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton. His identity is guided by a minimal aesthetic infused with a vigorous mountain spirit.

This strong sense of identity is channeled through his work for Rier, bringing elements of traditional mountain-wear to the forefront. Whether it's working with heritage brands like Ludwig Reiter on a contemporary outdoor boot or medieval-inspired designs like the Walker Jacket—Rier takes a keen eyed look at Austrian heritage.

Working with the finest artisans and craftspeople, Rier products wear the hallmarks of quality with countries of manufacture including Austria and Italy. A steady focus on environmental impacts has lead the brand to produce garments with as much natural material as possible, allowing discarded pieces to once-again become one with nature after many years of service. A shining example is the signature Polar Fleece, which forgoes the traditional synthetic construction for a completely woollen textile—ditching microplastics for one of nature's most incredible fibres.
