Out and About with Nike ACG
We shoot the new Nike ACG in Mt Lerderderg National Park with Tomas Hofmann.
With a new Nike ACG on deck, we recruited our resident ACG buff Tomas Hofmann – you might recognise his page @nikeacgcommunityau – to snap some photos. New gear in arm, we headed out into the crisp, cool air of Mt Lerderderg National Park to capture ACG in the settings for which it was designed.
This drop covers the full array of ACG product from head to toe, ensuring no matter what your outdoor apparel quiver is lacking you’ll find something. The POLARTEC® fleece in particular proves useful as temperatures flirt with the lower end of single digits – putting Nike’s Therma-FIT tech to good use. We can’t forget to mention the Tuff Fleece Lungs hoodie, it’s one of those garments that flies under the radar until you see just how much thought went into it.
For this season the Washington wilderness provides the main inspiration point. Anyone familiar with hiking the Cascade Range would recognise reference to the Goat Rocks region, whilst the graphics draw inspiration from geological features in the area.
There’s plenty of earthy hues with flashes of soft lilac providing contrast. This palette is reminiscent of the original Air Mada’s, something we saw when the shoe returned for the first time since ’97. If modern is more your speed, the Tom-Sachs-ian Lowcate balances style and function whilst the Mountain Fly throws all tradition out the window in favour of futurist aesthetics.
As always there’s plenty of utility, from the Devastation Trail shirt’s multitude of pockets (and tiny carabiner) all the way down to the “oh damn are those what I think they are?” zip-off Summit cargos. Truthfully there’s something for anyone who’s looking to add to their outdoor wardrobe, even if you never leave the city…
