Of the 99x series, the 991 might be one of the most versatile—old enough to be considered a classic, yet new enough to be freed from the restrictions placed on cult classic silhouettes.
There's a commenter on reddit who dubbed these the 'bleached JJJJound' and that somewhat sarcastic comment makes a lot of sense when you break it down. Most obvious is the colour palette of muted beige and browns. It's the blacked-out N—a JJJJound New Balance mainstay—which does the most for fuelling this tongue-in-cheek reference though.
