The 574 was never meant to be flashy. New Balance built it as a reliable all-rounder, a hybrid road-and-trail shoe that could handle a bit of everything, and that versatility is why it's still around. This version goes with suede and mesh.
The upper pairs mesh with suede over an EVA foam midsole, with extra EVA cushioning in the heel for comfort. ENCAP handles the support, with a lightweight foam core wrapped in a durable polyurethane rim. It's also built on a wider last than the narrow running silhouettes of its day, which is where the 574's roomy, easy fit comes from.
