Originally launched in 1965 and named after French star Robert Haillet, it wasn't until 1978 that the "Stan Smith" would be born after a re-naming for the American tennis legend.
The white leather upper, with just 3 rows of perforation for branding is a lesson in simplicity. Those clean white uppers are behind the enduring success of the Stan Smith, cementing a place in casual and upmarket fashion circles—famously a favourite of fashion designers Raf Simons and Phoebe Philo.
This '80s edition recalls the most iconic era of the Stan Smith. To many aficionados this period represents the best shape and proportions of the shoe's 50+ years of production. The uppers are made from smooth premium leather with the signature green heel tab, which has been the calling card of the Stan Smith for generations.
