Aminé’s childhood memories of Oregon’s Outdoor School are the starting point for this New Balance Made in USA 992, with the outdoors translated into the textures and details of the shoe. Smooth pigskin suede nods to dirt and soil, while glossy patent leather brings in references to wood, worms, rocks and foliage. It’s a very literal idea, but the execution makes it work.
The 992’s ABZORB midsole keeps the original underfoot setup intact, while custom details give the collaboration its own identity. There’s a Club Banana logo on the tongue, Aminé’s signature at the heel and custom insoles, with a wood-cookie hangtag and tackle-box-inspired packaging rounding out the release.
