Royce Hill began in Brooklyn in 2021, when designer Justin Hulme started making clothes for himself, pulling apart workwear and military garments to rethink their patterns and construction. That approach continues to shape the label, with an interest in fabrication, practical details and pieces designed to be worn for years.
A byre is an old farm word for a cattle shed, and this coat is dressed for that kind of work. The indigo organic cotton denim is dense and dark, with contrast stitching tracing every seam. A leather collar frames the neck, snap buttons close the placket, and two pocket styles share the front: slanted welts and larger snap-flap pockets. Made in Japan, a country with a serious denim-making tradition.
