Jordan International Flight Club

Teaming up with some of their top boutique retailers from around the world, Nike has created the Jordan 'International Flight Club' collection. The project brings together retailers Two 18, Shelflife and TITAN to create their own capsule of Jordan apparel and Air Jordan 2 sneakers.

First off the rank is Shelflife, a streetwear boutique located in Cape Town, South Africa. Rooted in Shelflife’s graffiti and street art origins, the collection has a white and light-bone tones with bright orange accents worked in for a pop of colour. The Jordan 2 created by the South African shop is relatively subdued, relying on premium suede and leather to do the heavy lifting. The apparel shares the same colour palette but gets more adventurous with colour, especially with the bright orange short sleeve tee.

Number two collaborator Two 18 is based out of Detroit, Michigan. Sister to iconic sneaker store Burn Rubber, Two 18 employs a well-rounded approach to clothing with a focus on more mature style. Their collection is rooted heavily in storytelling with imagery and symbolism across all items. The iced outsole on their Air Jordan 2 has a sombre inspiration – the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. The brown-to-clear gradient represents the ongoing efforts to clean the water of Flint, with Two 18 calling out the gradual improvements as the water moves from dirty to clean. Similarly, the graphics used on their apparel shout out specific regions in Michigan that are important to both locals and the store itself. This release is a real 'if you know you know' for the Michigan area.

The third business on Nike's roster is TITAN out of the Phillipines. TITAN was inspired by the nation's 1954 Basketball World Championship – a squad which miraculously scored a bronze medal in the competition, bringing immense pride to the island nation. In order to truly capture the energy of this time in history, the TITAN team employed the help of Chi Loyzaga-Gibbs – designer, artist, musician and granddaughter of Filipino basketball hero Caloy Loyzaga.
