Construction detail that is mostly invisible. Laminated seams instead of stitched ones, moulded hood brims, and zip placement worked around pack straps. The decisions were made for alpine use and hold up well in a city.

Veilance applies the same construction standards to clothing designed for a city, without visible technical signalling. No external logos, no colour blocking, and silhouettes closer to tailoring.

For sustained rain, yes. GORE-TEX is genuinely waterproof and breathable in a way that treated fabrics are not. For occasional showers a water resistant shell is usually sufficient.

With room for a mid layer underneath but not so much that the fabric flaps. Arc'teryx patterns are articulated, so the fit reads slim standing still and opens up when you move.
