Introducing: Torc Blooming

We’re closing out 2024 with a bang and putting you guys on for real. To do that, we're introducing you to the latest addition to the UP THERE brand roster: Melbourne-based fashion label, Torc Blooming. You may have already spotted some pairs while perusing at our Flinders Lane location, or maybe you haven’t. Either way, the facts remain the same: Torc Blooming are making some damn good, voluminous pantaloons, right here in Melbourne.

Founded just over a year ago, the brand is the brainchild of Toby Coutts, who more recently onboarded close friends, Patrick Boyle and Harry Westaway. Together they’re steering the Torc ship onward, specialising in thoughtfully designed wide leg pants and denim.

While filming in-store at our Flinders Lane location, we had a chance to catch up with the guys who were able to shed a little light on the label. “Torc Blooming is a fashion label built on love—love for creativity, comfort, and expression,” Toby told us. “We focus on wide, baggy silhouettes because that’s what we feel best wearing every day. The name comes from my own name, and everything we do is about feeling good in what you wear.”

While the brand began by finding its feet via online social platforms including Instagram and TikTok, it was at UP THERE where customer interest really piqued. “Wearing these around the UP THERE staff and community was a game-changer,” Toby said. “People kept asking where they could get a pair. Seeing that excitement gave me the confidence to go into production.”

As we said, they’re making some damn good pantaloons, and once you get across their expert list of specs, you’ll be well aware why. Across their August Denim and Annular Pant silhouettes, some of their signature design hallmarks have been their oversized singular front pleats and singular darts at the bottom of each leg, all of which contribute to accentuating that wide silhouette. Of course there’s also other excitable mentions which include things like raw 13.5oz (441 gsm) cotton denim, fatigue pockets and contrast stitching.

This Friday, 20th December, you’ll be able to find Torc Blooming stocked exclusively at UP THERE for the very first time. Across the weekend, you’ll be able to come see the pairs in person, try them on and get your perfect fit. Expect any remaining pairs to go online Monday the 23rd.
