Is the Jordan 11 the last truly great Jordan? It’s a bold claim but there may be evidence for the AJ11 being the last sneaker in the Jordan franchise to possess genre-bending, culture-shifting influence beyond the court.
There were definitely great models before the XI, but it’s hard to think of a Jordan model which carries the same cultural weight after them. To this day the 11 still holds its place in rotation, with annual returns in key colourways like Concord, BRED and now this 2026 return of the University Blue Low reinforcing its status in the lineup.
Something about the Low makes it feel like it could’ve been a banger 20 years ago—the sort of pair that would’ve been hunted down for years after the fact. Originally part of the AJ11 Low run first introduced in the mid-2010s, this University Blue retro brings the colourway back into circulation today with its familiar mesh and patent build. Thankfully that’s not the case and it returns here in a clean, wearable form, for now at least.
