Following-on from the iconic ‘Backyard Legends’ 2002R duo, New Balance presents another UP THERE exclusive release, this time working with the 2002’s big brother; the 1906R.

The colour palette is classic New Balance, executed in shades of grey. Instead of colour this version plays with light, drawing on differing forms of reflectivity. From the upper to the outsole, almost the entire shoe is monochrome save for a glimpse of green on the heel badge and sockliner.

Drawing from the model’s 2000s legacy, the 1906RUP features a full silver upper with the recognisable 1906 motif—normally embossed into the panels—printed with a reflective finish revealed under changing light. This sits atop a base of double-layered mesh with a fully reflective underlay. The midsole—finished in soft white—is accented with a custom painted section at the forefoot which alters the shoe’s proportions. The N-DURANCE rubber outsole and springy N-ERGY pods are both finished in a translucent “Grey Ice” finish.

Each pair comes with a total of four vastly different lace options; soft-white with reflective threads, bungee cord secured with a toggle, Sure Laces and the pièce de résistance; a sparkling set in metallic silver. As an added bonus, custom-made socks with reflective woven branding come included in the box as well.
