Fun fact about that purplish-grey hue of mauve, it was one of the first colours to be synthesised. It was then mass produced and marketed by the chemist who accidentally discovered it when looking for a cure for malaria. The discovery of 'mauvine' kickstarted a revolution in colour dyes which has resulted in the affordable technicolour world of clothing we live in now.
