Type 2 1950's Denim Jacket - One Wash
When we talk about denim, there’s really only one brand that can transcend the centuries of trends and that’s of course Levi’s. Throughout the decades none have done more to normalise the use of denim in the everyday wardrobe than Levi Strauss & Co. When approaching their own denim jacket, it made sense that Orslow would start with the Type II, which started appearing in the 1950s.
Orslow adjusted the fit and details, but in large it’s about minute changes. The iconic Type II pleats that can be cut to allow for expansion (shoutouts to belly boys) and patch pockets are ever-present.
This version is treated to a One Wash finish, which as the name suggests gives these a single wash after being made. Compared with an unwashed rigid pair, the denim is softer to the touch. Most people choose to pre-wash their raw denim because it tends to aid in the fading process.
