107 Ivy Fit Jean - Black Denim Stonewash
This cut is what Orslow refers to as their Ivy Fit, which might be a reference to Ivy League colleges but in what way we’ll have to plead ignorance. What they definitely are though, is slimmer than the classic 105 cut. They’re definitely not skinny though, think of these as what you might have called “loose” in 2008 when people were wearing stretchy, painted on jeans.
Construction and details are as you’d expect, rivets reinforce the high-stress areas as they’ve done for over a century. Hidden rivets strengthen the back pockets, which feature a simple arcuate. The fly is buttoned — zips never work that well on jeans we’ve found, and the denim is (of course) Japanese selvedge.
Compared to its indigo cousin, black denim is exponentially harder to get a good fade-out of unless you live like a rockstar. Unless you live the rockstar lifestyle then, it’s likely you’ll benefit from this stonewashed version. Although it can be hard to describe what stone washing does for jeans compared to say, normal wear, you know it when you see it. The speckled finish and strong roping around all the seams is textbook stonewash.
