Terminator High - Swan/Nobel Green/Sail
1985 was a pivotal moment not just for Nike but for basketball footwear in general. In just one year we saw the release of the Dunk, the first ever Air Jordan and the Terminator. With so much heat all in the same drop you'd be forgiven for overlooking the Terminator from this era.
The original Terminator was dressed in the grey and navy of Georgetown University. Released as part of the "Be True to Your School" pack which was otherwise made entirely of Dunk Highs, it's fair to wonder why Georgetown got a different shoe. The answer is as simple as it is impressive. The Terminator was a shoe made for the Georgetown Hoyas! Thanks no doubt to coach John Thompson's relationship as a consultant to Nike, the brand made this shoe for the 1984 national champs. This is the first and possibly only example of an exclusive school sneaker – not just a colourway.
This contemporary colourway is knocked up in a combo that's quite reminiscent of a different iconic basketball team: the Boston Celtics. It's hard not to draw that comparison with any Nike basketball shoe when it's done-up in a combination of green and white.
