As New Balance expands their MADE in USA program for the year we're finally starting to see some interesting colours hitting the current 990v6. Whilst we'll never complain about a grey NB, it's great to get some more playful combinations coming through. The modern swooping lines of the v6 has been divisive for some but time has shown them as a worthy member of the famed 99x series.

The striking combination of pink and purple is reminiscent of New Balance's NBX series from the early-'90s – this colourway in particular seems to draw from the NBX 900. The reference is fitting given ways in which the 990v6 incorporates more performance technology than more recent iterations of the 99x series. Unlike the original NBX series, the uppers eschew synthetic materials for premium suede and nubuck alongside the healthy dose of reflective panels.
