MS574TVT
A little while back, the New Balance Tokyo Design Studio did their thang with the 574 and came up with the MS574 – a pumped up fashion take on a New Balance icon. The main changes were achieved by stripping off the N icon and slapping on a super-sized midsole with toothy Vibram® outsole.
We weren't treated to very many iterations of the contemporary take on this classic before it disappeared. Fortunately we've got this new pair to ease the pain a little.
The uppers are constructed with cotton herringbone, an unusual choice for footwear but seeing it here makes us wonder why it's not used more often. This is overlaid with a generous amount of smooth, vegetable tanned leather in a natural colour that will age over time. The neutral tones help to accentuate the lack of branding across the entire shoe, save for the embossed heel tab & "NB" on the heel cap. The real star of the show is the Vibram® Ripple sole, finished in an off-white EVA foam and they'll add an inch to your height. It's attached with a welted construction so you can even re-sole them once the time comes.
