M991JJA × JJJJound
Marking the latest in a series of internet-busting releases, the New Balance 991 by JJJJound marks a new achievement for the two collaborators. Unlike previous 99x series releases the 991 is made in England – preceding drops being domestically made in the USA. Whilst the place of production might have changed, the approach stays the same: a simple, quality, everyday wearable shoe.
Bearing a striking similarity to the previous 992 'Earth Grey' which released alongside a forest green companion, the UK 991 'Grey' presents more as taupe or dirty beige. The tonal combination of suede and mesh is accented by brown accents and black reflective N. For many New Balance fans the lack of reflective silver N is a jarring thing at-first but it has become a subtle signature of JJJJound New Balance releases.
