MR993JG1 x Joe Freshgoods
Through his projects with New Balance, Joe Freshgoods has been able to tell stories and centre creative voices. Community is at the heart of anything Joe does, whether it be his local Chicago area or the broader black community in America. His projects not only open up dialogue around the black experience, they also allow him a platform to engage his community with give-back initiatives and charity.
Joe caused a mild freak-out for fans when posting this capsule with the caption "end of an era". Nerves were calmed once he clarified it was only an end to this colour palette – something he has carried across four collaborations. He chose to finish things where it began for JFG and New Balance: on a 99x model.
The finale comes via Performance Art: a pack with the core palette split across multiple pairs of 993. This particular pair is finished in Sage Green suede – a silvery hue which can be temperamental, but he nailed here. Peachy off-white graces accents on the upper and the bulk of the midsole blocking. The back half of the heel ENCAP section wears a contrasting tone of sage. This colour carries down to the rubber outsole to finish things off.
