By this stage you're likely familiar with the New Balance 550 – the low-cut basketball sneaker more popular now, than since it was on shelves back in 1989. Originally penned by designer Steven Smith as a variation of the 650 high top, we've only had the low tops available. That is, until now.
In a complete reversal of the original roll-out, New Balance is releasing the BB650 to follow in the footsteps of the 550. It's fair to say that compared with the lows, the higher cut of the 650 does take a bit more fashion finesse to pull off.
This version is dressed in a colour combination which should come as no stranger to anyone. Often referred to colloquially as "Bred" – the combination of Black and Red is synonymous with the Chicaco Bulls and Jordan history. Whether for stoopin' or hoopin', dust off your old singlet and do some stretches because these are ready to go.
