6mm Stone Bracelet - Yooperlite
Although Mikia makes many styles of jewellery, it's their beaded designs which they are best known for. Each piece is strung by hand in Japan using only the finest vintage and new beads in stone, glass and sterling silver. Through the use of natural stone and hand-made glass beads, each Mikia necklace and bracelet is unique unto itself.
This bracelet is made from medium sized 6mm stone beads in Yooperlite and a single Navajo Pearl. The hardware is cast from 925 Sterling Silver, with a sterling silver button to wrap the nylon cordage around for secure wearing.
Yooperlite: Yooerplite is made up of mostly syenite rock – similar to granite – which means the rock looks like any other typical grey rock. But, there's a twist. Yooperlites are rich with fluorescent sodalite, which glows a vibrant orange or yellow under Ultraviolet Light.
Navajo Pearl: A solid sterling silver (925) bead that is formed in by technique by Indigenous American craftspeople of Navajo descent. This practice has been perfected over centuries and forms a central part of trade and culture for Navajo people. Adapted for consumption, the tradition of Navajo bead making remains a valuable skillset.
