Michael Jordan might be the GOAT on-court but when it comes to sneakers the name just might be the greatest off the court as well. With such a storied career, filled with myths and miracles there's no shortage of anecdotes to build into a sneaker release.
This blue and yellow colourway references Laney Highschool, where Jordan attended from 1977 to 1981. As the legend goes, MJ didn't make the cut for the varsity team in his sophomore year – being relegated to the junior team. This fuelled Jordan's fire and ultimately set him on the path which we all know so well.
Jordan Brand honoured this legacy a few years ago with the AJ1, but the the story is back. This new version flips the script and reverses the placement of colours, making a base of yellow with blue overlays. For us this combo works a bit better. The addition of red on the tongue label brings to mind the iconic SNOW BEACH Polo jacket which Raekwon famously wore.
