Following his retirement in 1999, a sprightly Michael Jordan returned to the court again in 2001 for the Washington Wizards after a year as part owner and president of basketball operations. Given his relationship with Nike, there was no shortage of special versions of Jordan sneakers for MJ to wear once again – only this time his team was dressed in blue.

Amongst his on-court footwear repertoire was a custom pair of Jordan 3's – a shoe which MJ originally wore back in 1988. Compared with the OG "True Blue" version, the small touches of red were replaced with metallic copper to match with the Wizards uniform. This tiny change, however seemingly insignificant means that collectors were desperate to get their hands on a pair. Unfortunately for them the shoes were available only for Jordan, never being released to the public – until now.

Some 22 years since Michael Jordan wore them for the Wizards, Nike digs into the archive to make them available in a limited edition drop. Dressed in the same colours and materials as the '01 Player Exclusive, these are a unique part of Jordan history to add to any collection.
