Utility Explore Low - Papyrus
As the name suggests, the Utility Explore is a model designed by Converse for more utilitarian purposes. In reality nobody is expecting these to be the first choice for the construction industry, but a little bit of increased functionality never hurt anyone right?
This low-cut sneaker sits atop an EVA foam midsole equipped with a chunky rubber outsole that incorporates Converse Traction Utility technology – whatever that is. The uppers are constructed with mesh base, overlaid with suede and rubber panels. By using rubber Converse hits two birds with one stone. The uppers are protected by the thick, hard-wearing material and in-turn also water resistant.
The real party trick for this model comes in the ways in which it secures to your feet. We use the plural because there's actually two things keeping them on your feet: traditional shoelaces and a seatbelt-like strap. If we need to explain how shoelaces work then you might be in the wrong place, but the removable strap does require a little introduction. By guiding it through the provided loops, you can cinch these tight and then clip in with the small buckle on the outside of each shoe. Thanks to the removable nature, Converse even included an extra patterned strap to allow extra customisation to suit your mood.
