Gel-NYC - Oatmeal/Obsidian Grey

With a return to late-90s and early-2000s running silhouettes there's no brand more suited to this era than ASICS. With their deep catalogue of acronym-riddled, high-tech and space-aged looking sneakers, the ASICS design team leveraged this knowledge to create the GEL-NYC.

Its retro looks draws its main inspiration from the archival GEL-Nimbus III which launched just before the new millennium. In fitting with the design language of the time, the uppers featured swooping lines and plenty of details. That look is carried over to the NYC, updated and tweaked then executed in premium suede for a finish which is far beyond anyone could have dreamt up in 1999.

The sole tooling is lifted from the GEL-CUMULUS™ 16 – a daily running shoe originally released in 2014. The GEL cushioning in both the heel and forefoot give fantastic cushioning whilst also bringing the retro-modern feel for which the GEL-NYC was created.
