Gel Lyte III OG - Cream/Bisque

According to ASICS these are a "mythical creatures" inspired release. The problem being that nobody bothered to explain anything further that that one snipped of information. So instead I'm left to theorise what it might be.

Being part of a duo, there is this Cream along with a complimentary Coffee Brown coloured version. It's possible these two are inspired by some sort of good/bad combo, maybe a yin/yang type of scenario. If you think about it, laying both shoes down could almost make a ☯︎ – impressed by the unicode symbol? In reality until someone at ASICS drops a press release there's no point theorising on what the deal is, so let's just look at the shoe itself...

The uppers are constructed from a thick premium leather. The base is a tumbled leather texture, with overlays in smooth and ostrich patterns – easily one of the oddest leathers nature has created. The toebox features a unique perforated pattern to break up the expanse of leather. The stripes feature tonal ponyhair, adding another level of texture that might also play into the "mythical creatures" narrative – the story behind these shoes is itself mythical at this point.
