Hailing from the Japanese team, this edition of the World Make series pays homage to Japan's love affair with denim. It's well known that if you want the most authentic, most beautiful blue jeans there's no place better than Japan. The craft and care which the Japanese artisans give this fabric is unparalleled. Although denim wasn't born in Japan, it surely found it's home there.
The finish on this pair is heavily distressed, giving good indications of denim's most charming characteristic — masterful patina. The topstitch detail applied to the faded indigo blue panels is reminiscent of — although not replicating — the Japanese art of "sashiko". This time-honoured technique of mending and reinforcing fabric evolved into an iconic stylistic flourish far from it's roots in the poor working classes.
