Much has been said about the black/white combo on Nike's basketball sneakers of late. Specifically, the Dunk Low "Panda" was the source of much hype for a few seasons straight. As that phenomenon dies down somewhat, what remains in the aftermath is the "Panda" nickname. Chiefly, this moniker is seemingly applied to any black and white shoe that releases.

Let's get things straight, this is not a "Panda" Air Jordan 1, in fact this monochrome iteration was one of the handful of original AJ1 colourways. Indeed, this shoe predates the "Panda" phenomenon by about 35 years! Compared with other '85 colourways these are one of the most wearable and low-key options. Only the black/grey and white/natural grey can hold a candle in those stakes.

The latest release sees the original colours applied to the updated Jordan 1 '85 – the most comprehensive AJ1 retro silhouette yet – for the first time. The uppers are finished in smooth leather with a nylon tongue. Details are as close to the original release as we've seen and a sign of Nike and Jordan Brand's commitment to maintaining the One's legacy.
