Forum 84 Low AEC - Cloud White/Green Oxide
The Forum is likely the most important adidas shoe you've never heard of. The brainchild of French designer Jacques Chassaing. The Forum was the result of his own deep research into what injuries basketball teams struggled with; Chassaing wanted to know which particular issues were important to all players across the board. Through the Forum's design he created the Criss-Cross Ankle System – inspired by the strapping which team physios applied to injured players – in order to protect against ankle injury.
When it launched in 1984, the $100 Forum stole headlines as the most expensive basketball shoe in the world – indeed all that tech didn't come cheap. If that wasn't enough to cement it's status, a young Michael Jordan wore them whilst playing in trials for the '84 Olympics. By this point history was made and the Forum became a a status symbol which only gained more notoriety as the streets adopted this ultra-expensive tech powerhouse.
These days the Forum has become an; if you know, you know type of shoe that goes under-appreciated. This "AEC" version adds an extra level of detail with a pre-aged treatment that makes them look like you just pulled them out of a warehouse that's been untouched for 30 years. Fortunately you won't have to deal with the rotten foam and cracked rubber that comes along with actual barn finds though.
