BW Army - Footwear White/Gum

The most famous adidas shoe you might not have known existed—the BW Army is a fashion icon with military roots. Often cited as the reason the Dassler brothers (Adi and Rudi) had a falling-out which they never reconciled, the BW Army was standard issue for the West German army through the 1970s earning the nickname "German Army Trainer" or "GAT" for short.

Many may know this shoe for its multiple impersonators, both high and low in price but the adidas version is the original, manufactured for the Bundeswehr (BW) by the German sportswear brand. There's no four stitches, no padded tongues, it's just how they've been since the beginning.
