Adimatic × atmos - Glory Purple/Crystal White
Launched originally in 1996, the adidas adi-Matic was a maximalist shoe inspired by the emerging trends in skate footwear that would take hold in the early '00s. As with many global trends, the adi-Matic was adopted quickly by the stylish Japanese market which would then disseminate throughout the west over time.
Over 25 years later, adidas brings back the model – renamed "Adimatic" – at a time where maximalist footwear and '00s nostalgia is starting to grow. The oversized, padded upper is constructed from suede with fat stripes creating a bold branding hit that feels oh-so-'90s. This era of footwear was all about a super cushy all-round feeling and these definitely achieve that.
A rubber toe bumper protects the mudguard, whilst the heel insert features a small coin wearing the adidas logo below a massive embroidered version of the new-at-the-time logo. This particular purple and red combo was dreamed up by Japanese sneaker store atmos, the combo of regal tones is a very '90s look which suits the Adimatic perfect.y
