This shoe is the definition of a well made article that is steeped in rich history and tradition. It is this history and tradition that lends itself to the overall theme behind the collaboration...Sashiko.
With the Japanese having a habit of making things that last a lifetime, Sashiko is one of the many ways a products lifespan can be expanded exponentially. Sashiko (literally "little stabs") is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching (or functional embroidery)from Japan. Traditionally used to reinforce points of wear or to repair tears with patches, this running stitch techniques often used for purely decorative purposes in quilting and embroidery. The white cotton thread on the traditional indigo blue cloth gives sashiko its distinctive appearance.
What better way to bring together two companies that believe in the production of articles that are made to endure, than to incorporate an ancient technique that itself has stood the test of time and whose purpose is to reinforce and repair.
The collaboration will be releasing exclusively at Up There Level 1/15 McKillop Street, Melbourne, Friday the 16th of February with retail set at $250. Remaining pairs will be available online after our in-store release.

Saucony returns for the season wrapping their coveted Grid 8000 in sandy tones. Tentatively titled the Grid 8000 ‘Desert’ each pair takes in inspiration from the sandy dunes of the desert. Buttery soft leathers wrap the upper in sandy off-white tones leaving the architecture of the panelling to speak for itself. Perforated leather replace the usual mesh toe box before debossed and embroidered detailing rounds out the upper. Continuing the premium finishes with a leather lining and leather innersoles, the Grid 8000 sits neatly atop an off-white, sand, and gum sole unit to complete the release.
The Grid 8000 ‘Desert’ is now available both in store and online with all of the finer details after the jump.Read More
