New Balance 'Grey Day' M997GD1 + M997SGR

New Balance pay respects to their most beloved of monochrome colourways for 'Grey Day'. This coming Thursday the 5th of September, New Balance deliver two renditions of the 997GY.

Both crafted in the U.S.A. in the signature tones of grey, the first offering from the duo, the M997GD1 brings the traditional 997GY switching out the signatory N's and moving around the 'Made In U.S.A.' embroidery in their place, theaving the tongue and heel blank. The second pair from the collection brings the 997GY into the contemporary space with the M997SGR 'Sport' switching out the traditional sole unit for the latest Encap Reveal.

Both pairs will be available online at 12am midnight this coming Thursday the 5th of September with sizes US8 through to US12 (including some half sizes) available for $320AUD.

Until Thursday, we'll leave you with all of the finer details after the jump...

New Balance’s 997 and 998 come together in another hybrid duo of the 997.5 with black and olive finishes. Both the ML997HBA and ML997HBB come to us wrapped in premium suedes, nubucks, leathers, and even a touch of ballistic nylon. The ML997HBA takes on a mix of the premium materials across a tonal black upper accented by white embroidery and a speckled black/white combination sole unit. Its ML997HBB counterpart sees the black replaced with olive drab tones again with white embroidered detailed and speckled dual tone sole unit. The 997’s upper sits neatly atop a REVlite variation of the 998 sole unit to produce the 997.5 hybrid only much lighter than its original predecessors.

Both the ML997HBA & ML997HBB are now available in store and online alongside the rest of this season’s selections from New Balance. For a closer look at all of the finer details, continue reading after the jump…

Continuing with their renditions of the 997.5, New Balance have delivered a duo of lighter tones with the ML997HAF & ML997HAG. The 997 meet 998 hybrids come to us with a series of premium and lush suedes with hits of leather and embroidered details that we’ve come to expect from New Balance. The ML997HAF wraps its upper with a powdered blue accented by crisp whites and muted light greys, whilst the ML997HAG takes on a mostly light grey upper accented with more familiar tones of grey and crisp whites. Both of the 997 uppers sit neatly atop their REVlite 998 sole units to finish it all off.

Both the ML997HAF & ML997HAG are now available in store at both of our Level 1/15 McKillop Street, and 208 Little Collins Street stores as well as online. For a look at the finer details of both colourways, continue reading after the jump.

We love sneakers, Sneaker Freaker love sneakers, we love Sneaker Freaker. This coming Friday they will be launching their latest New Balance collaboration in the basement level of our store. They wanted a space that they could have everyone down to buy their shoe, hang out and catch up. We have a central location so it made perfect sense for us to play host, but please understand that’s all we are for this event. Below you will see information regarding Friday’s proceedings direct from Sneaker Freaker themselves.

“Thanks for your interest in the Sneaker Freaker x New Balance 'Tassie Tiger' release. As you may have guessed, hype is huge and the numbers are tight. The Tassie Tiger will not be available in the US or Europe and dudes are absolutely losing their minds. We wish we had enough pairs for everybody, but we don’t!

In the interests of transparency, we therefore wanted to let you know how the release event will work. One shoe per person, no exceptions! The price is $250. As this is a one-off event, we will not have Eftpos or Paypal available, so come prepared.

All pairs sold at the event come with the really crazy-coloured box, a special Tassie Tiger copy of Sneaker Freaker #Issue 36 and a tee shirt as well (while stocks last). Most importantly, this is Friends and Family. By that we mean Sneaker Freaker acknowledges ‘family’ – locals that have helped out at the Swap Meet or contributed to the magazine. These people are on a list and have been guaranteed a pair. We are simply returning favours, which we think is fair enough. If your name is on the list you must be there by 7pm in person to collect. If you don’t show up by this time, your pair will be sold to those waiting. There are NO HOLDS. All other pairs will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Make sure you get down there early. And don’t ask us what time you should get there. We don’t know!

We always try hard to look after the SF family and we hope everyone is happy with the way we are managing this release.

Keep your Tassie Tigers tight!”

With the 997.5 returning to the ranges, New Balance have given the hybrid silhouette an upgrade. Pairing the 997 upper off with a REVlite 998 sole unit combines to give us the ML997HAA. Wrapped in premium white leathers, and subtle shades of cloud greys, this mono-tonal colourway is finished off with embossed detailing atop tongue and heel, perforated toe-box and a touch of reflective. The 997.5 sits atop it’s lightweight REVlite sole unit mimicking the white and grey tones of the silhouettes upper.

The ML997HAA is now available in store and online with all of the finer details after the jump.
