New Balance have delivered their latest, with the Boston-based running specialists continuing their tradition of American crafted silhouettes with the 1978. This latest addition to the range draws inspiration from one of our all-time favourites the 990. Paying homage to the year the 990 was conceived within its name ‘1978’. Pulling design queues from the DNA of the 990, New Balance have also bestowed upon it the same premium manufacturing techniques to give us the upmost quality within the finished product.

The 1978 at its heart sports a three-piece upper, wrapped in luxurious suedes, and premium leathers before sitting neatly atop a specially crafted Vibram sole unit. The slimmed down upper of the 1978 sports a precisely cut design with the heavily detailed upper hiding a hint of 3M reflective beneath the signatory ’N’ and embossed details to finish it all off.

Coming to us in three colourways the ML1978BK sports a charcoal and black upper, whilst the ML1978BN sports a burgundy upper with dark grey accents. Lastly the ML1978NV comes wrapped in a tonal navy suede with tanned leather accents. All three colourways will release this Saturday the 18th of March at our Level 1/15 McKillop Street store from 11am. Any remaining pairs will be available in our online store later the same day. Sizes US8 through to US11 (including half sizes) for $240. Until Saturday, we’ll leave you with all of the finer details after the jump…
