Whitworth Spzl - Grey One/Grey Two-Clear Onix
Description
A new silhouette introduced for the Spezial 10th Anniversary, the Whitworth SPZL draws inspiration from adidas' iconic runners from the 1980s.
Calling back to a time where the Three Stripes moved through massive innovation change, the Spezial team looks towards the earlier part of the decade when design language was more simplified.
Uppers in a classic suede, nylon and mesh combination feature complex cut-back shapes and are conspicuously devoid of any stripes—instead opting for a badge panel with adidas wordmark. The simple midsole shape houses multiple foam sections and a SoftCell cushioning system taken from the later Torsion-equipped ZX models which would change running shoe aesthetics from the '80s and into the '90s.
